The RJD recently received a 1911 “O” Series Steinway grand piano from Jones family descendant Jane Young. It was given with the intention of reviving the long-standing tradition of music in the parlors at 396 County Street. The intimate parlor setting provides an opportunity to experience musical performances in a truly unique manner. The performances will have an interactive format with performer commentary followed by a reception with refreshments and an opportunity to socialize. Space is limited; be sure to purchase tickets at your earliest convenience.
Join us for the inaugural program of our “Music in the Parlors” series celebrating the addition of a Grand Piano to the RJD collections. Baritone Victor Janet will open the series with turn of the century songs by Stephen Foster, Sir Arthur Sullivan, and Edward MacDowell, as well as that indispensable salon favorite, a melodrama by Stanley Harry Hawley. Please purchase tickets by calling the Museum at 508-997-1401 or online. Concert tickets are $30; RJD members may purchase a series ticket for $50.
The second concert in the series features pianists Jonathan Bass and Janice Weber in a program of elegant duets by Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Debussy. If you thought two hands were dazzling, wait until you hear four! Please purchase tickets by calling the Museum at 508-997-1401 or online. Concert tickets are $30; RJD members may purchase a series ticket for $50.
